Ghana advances inclusive data practices to tackle FGM through national validation workshop

On April 3, 2025, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), in collaboration with the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data and APC-Colombia, hosted a national validation workshop in Accra as part of the Make Inclusive Data the Norm (MIDN) initiative.

Kenya launches national AI strategy

On March 27, 2025, Kenya's Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025-2030 was launched by the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy at the Kenyatta International Convention Center.  

This comprehensive strategy positions Kenya as Africa’s leading AI innovation hub and marks a new milestone in Kenya’s journey toward harnessing the transformative power of AI to drive sustainable development, economic growth, and social inclusion. 

Claire Melamed joins the UN CSTD Multi-Stakeholder Working Group on Data Governance at All Levels

Following the adoption of the United Nations Pact for the Future and Global Digital Compact in September 2024, the UN General Assembly requested the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) to establish a working group on data governance at all levels.

Claire Melamed joins the Board of Trustees at Global Change Data Lab

On January 21, 2025, Global Change Data Lab announced the appointment of two new board members, including CEO of the Global Partnership, Claire Melamed.

With a long career leading public institutions focused on global data, Claire will contribute expertise on how to make the data the Global Change Data Lab provides as comprehensive and useful as possible.
