The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data announces new board members

Today the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (the Global Partnership) announces the appointment of three new board members bringing extensive experience from across the private sector, civil society and government: Amer Baig, sustainable impact investor, Lysa John, Secretary General of CIVICUS, and Ola Awad, President of the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics.

The new appointments bring the Global Partnership’s Board to 16, with the Board of Directors listed in full below.

Since UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for a global effort to bring about a data revolution in sustainable development in 2014, it’s become increasingly clear that our personal data is not something abstract stored in cyberspace. To the contrary, current events have shown now more than ever the extent to which our data reflect ourselves and the ways data can be used both for and against us. Data holds power to improve lives. But it often can also be used against people.
