Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Our understanding of consumption and production is often based on estimates and outdated figures. Without transparent systems, without accurate population data, without accurate birth and death rates, we cannot accurately predict our food and water needs of the future and, as a consequence, on our planet.
This data would allow for us to leave a sustainable planet for the next generation. Consumers worldwide are increasingly concerned about environmental, economic, and social issues and want smart markets that limit waste. Data analysis of consumption patterns can help find wasteful gaps and work towards more holistic, sustainable consumption.
The earth’s population is projected to rise to 9 billion by 2050.
"The situation the Earth is in today has been created by unmindful production and unmindful consumption. We consume to forget our worries and our anxieties. Tranquilising ourselves with over-consumption is not the way."
