The Centro de Pensamiento Estratégico Internacional (CEPEI, as it stands in Spanish), is an independent data-driven think tank, working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to scale up the participation of the global South within the sustainable development agendas.

The center was founded in 2003 and since then has worked closely with decision-makers and those who influence them, by analyzing, promoting ideas, generating capacities, and providing demand-driven information about development processes.

Our aim is to increase regional dialogue and information sharing, provide policy solutions, and insights on critical strategic areas so as to optimize the engagement in governance, finance, and data for sustainable development.

Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data

To foster the data ecosystems and use of data in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to harness the data revolution for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to promote that development stakeholders in the Global South make ambitious and sustained contributions to SDG implementation, and to create a data laboratory for the SDGs in the LAC region, Data República, that conducts data mining and provides data-driven evidence for policy making and accountability mechanisms. Our aim is to increase regional dialogue and data sharing, trigger capacity development, and provide policy solutions and insights in critical strategic areas so as to optimize the engagement on governance, finance, and data for sustainable development by generating effective instruments to support the measurement and implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
