As countries work to enhance their statistical processes, leveraging administrative data plays a crucial role in filling data gaps, improving the availability, quality, and reliability of information to support decision-making and enabling the monitoring of progress against national development goals and the 2030 Agenda.
On the sidelines of the 56th session of the UN Statistical Commission, this event brings together country representatives who will share their experiences and lessons learned in utilizing administrative data for statistics production, with an emphasis on metadata management and harmonization of concepts and definitions as well as the access to and sharing of administrative data.
Two new, practical tools developed by the Collaborative on Administrative Data, and aimed at supporting countries in these efforts, will be also presented during the session. These are:
Metadata Guidance: This extends beyond administrative data and acts as a hands-on resource to guide countries in implementing a metadata system and engaging with data producers around the effective documentation of data and statistical products
An advocacy Toolkit: Providing an easy-to-use collection of ideas, strategies, materials, and examples that countries can use when planning and executing advocacy and awareness-raising activities regarding the use and sharing of administrative data for statistical production.
