In March 2025, Kenya's Artificial Intelligence Strategy for 2025-2030 was launched by the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy at the Kenyatta International Convention Center.

This comprehensive national strategy positions Kenya as Africa’s leading AI innovation hub and marks a new milestone in Kenya’s journey toward harnessing the transformative power of AI to drive sustainable development, economic growth, and social inclusion.

It also serves as a valuable example for other countries developing an AI strategy.

The strategy was developed through a process of extensive, multi-stakeholder engagement with civil society, the private sector, academia, international partners, and more, supported by the Global Partnership. Focusing on participatory and inclusive policymaking, the strategy reflects the unique needs and opportunities for Kenya, with an emphasis on governance, innovation, and capacity building, to ensure the benefits of AI reach all its citizens.

The strategy was produced with the financial support of the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
