About the initiative
Within this collaborative there are two active task teams:
1. Inclusive Data Charter Task Team
This task team aims to mobilize and sustain political commitments and meaningful actions to make data more inclusive and deepen data disaggregation. Its currently developing a multi-stakeholder Inclusive Data Charter with a core group of governments, international organizations, and civil society organizations that will sign on as the first champions. The Inclusive Data Charter will launch publicly in July 2018 at the High-Level Political Forum and then broaden support and deepen action over time as more partners sign on.
2. Citizen-Generated Data Task Team
Citizen-generated data is data that people or their organizations produce to directly monitor, demand, or drive change on issues that affect them. This can be produced through crowdsourcing mechanisms or citizen reporting initiatives, often organized and managed by civil society groups. The goals of the task team are to:
- Increase confidence in citizen-generated data for sustainable development
- Help those who are not familiar with citizen-generated data with basic materials to understand and apply it
- Enhance ability of governments to use citizen-generated data
The task team is working towards the following outputs:
- Share experiences across stakeholders and sectors
- Create guidelines for citizen-generated data methodology, and recommendations for ensuring quality
- Identify promising examples of approaches and methodologies to categorize and share
