Since 2019, the Data for Now Initiative has supported National Statistical Offices across the Global South to strengthen capacity, integrate innovative data sources, and advance data-driven decision-making.

This side event will explore how stronger partnerships between NSOs and universities can further strengthen national data ecosystems. Drawing on a recent study examining barriers, opportunities, and enabling factors for NSO–academic collaboration, the session will discuss practical models for sustainable partnership.

Bringing together NSO representatives, Member States, and academics, the dialogue will focus on how coordinated partnerships can leverage academic expertise, advance data science capabilities, and support national priorities, particularly in a context of constrained resources.

Co-organized by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, UNSD, UNDP, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data, and the World Bank.
