Across Colombia’s territories, citizens generate and share valuable information every day through local monitoring, community censuses, mapping, and participatory diagnostics. Yet these efforts often remain invisible within official data systems.
The Datos en Acción (Data in Action) workshops recognizes the transformative potential of citizen data: data produced or used by people and communities, guided by principles of inclusion, ethics, and responsibility. This edition, held in Tumaco, will focus on three themes central to the region’s identity and livelihoods: conservation and habitat, community tourism, and shrimp and shellfish fishing.
Through practical exercises and dialogue, participants will identify their data practices, explore how citizen data connects to territorial planning and sustainable development, and co-design ways to strengthen their visibility and impact in public decision-making.
