The successful launch of Paraguay's Water Information System (WIS) platform in March 2023 marked an important milestone in the integrated management of water resources in Paraguay. Since the launch, there has been ongoing collaboration between stakeholders to strengthen the flow, accuracy, and relevancy of the data in the WIS.

During this workshop, hosted by Paraguay's National Institute of Statistics (INE), the latest advancements in the WIS are presented to participating institutions, with opportunities for feedback and discussion.

The sustainable management of water resources is a transversal need to ensure the health and quality of life of the population... Water is a strategic resource, not only for life and health but also for commerce, environmental preservation, and disaster reduction.

- Iván Ojeda, National Director of INE

We strongly believe that this (WIS) is the tool we need to put all our efforts into, and we all need to push forward because it is the only way we can truly obtain data that can be used.

- Claudia Crosa, Director of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Directorate (DAPSAN) of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC)

Any action we can undertake regarding data generation, is of great importance. There are always requests from the academic community for data, for researchers to access data to develop their work, and to make decisions based on those studies.

- Flavia Fiore, Director of the Watershed Management Directorate of the General Directorate of Protection and Conservation of Water Resources of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES)
