Join the Global Partnership and partners to unveil the Africa Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator Network (Africa CAN) Playbook. The Playbook distills three years of hands-on training, fellowships, and country use cases into practical guidance, standard workflows, and governance tips that help teams integrate climate and health data for real-world decisions. The event serves as a rallying point for future collaboration. Speakers at the launch will share their experiences of being part of CAN, their observations on the climate and health data landscape in Africa, and initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) that are already using integrated datasets. They will also discuss how Africa and LAC can collaborate and invite attendees to engage with the Playbook and glean recommendations for their own work.
Launched in 2022 to close capacity gaps at the climate and health nexus, Africa CAN combines a 3-month data science training with a 6-month fellowship. More than 700 early and mid-career professionals have built skills and networks to translate data into action, while a growing community of practice supports adoption inside African institutions. The Playbook packages these lessons to help teams scale what works.
