On the sidelines of the ninth meeting of Statistical Commission for Africa, this event focuses on addressing the fragmented data approaches and methodologies in African food security statistics.

Despite numerous targets and indicators supporting SDG2 and Africa Agenda 2063, some discrepancies stem from varying methodologies from Rome-based UN Agencies such as FAO and WFP. These discrepancies can range from the underlying use of the statistics, survey timelines, and the reliance on external funding and technical support, all of which limit comparability and can add further confusion in measuring food security.
