Founded in 2015 at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and in partnership with the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, the Reach Alliance is a student-driven, faculty-mentored global research and leadership initiative investigating and examining how critical interventions and innovations reach those who are the hardest to reach: those living in extreme poverty, the geographically remote, administratively invisible, and marginalized.

Reach answers critical sustainable development questions by researching programs that have successfully harnessed the power of innovation and are delivering services to the most marginalized populations. By publishing annual case study reports, the Reach Alliance produces actionable development intelligence for partners and stakeholders. As a result, governments, NGOs, international organizations, and the private sector use these findings to scale or replicate programs and enhance global impact.

Our research has been featured in leading outlets, including The Lancet, the WHO (World Health Organization) Bulletin, Global & Mail, SSIR (Stanford Social Innovation Review) and many more. Our in-depth case study reports and actionable insights geared towards advancing the achievement of the SDGs are available on the Reach website.

Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data

The Reach Alliance was inspired by the United Nations’ set of Sustainable Development Goals intended to transform our world. The Reach Alliance understands that to pursue the full achievement of the SDGs, policy, programmatic approaches, and the accessibility and use of data and research must change.

To achieve this, Reach recruits student leaders across the world’s best universities to investigate inventive, local solutions to pressing global challenges. The actionable insights being generated by our network are advancing an inclusive economy, one that will deliver value to all stakeholders while enabling the success of graduates, companies, communities, and countries.

The Reach Alliance is uncovering the most effective ways to achieve inclusive growth and preparing a generation of leaders with the skills to make it happen.
