Keeping It Real (KIR) Foundation was registered in Nigeria in 2010 as a Non-Governmental Organization (RC 916541) with the goal of inspiring change through learning. KIR Foundation exists to transform the lives of vulnerable children, youth, persons living with disabilities, prison inmates, women and our local communities through Education, Advocacy, Capacity and Sustainable Development. Our vision is to raise innovative leaders committed to lifelong learning to transform their communities.
In the past five years, our primary objective and purpose statement has been 'inspiring change through learning'. Since 2011, with support from our board members, advisory committee, donors, partners, volunteers and staff; KIR Foundation has donated twelve thousand, one hundred and seventy-five (12, 175) books; trained, mentored and counselled fourteen thousand, five hundred and twenty-one (14, 521) youth. We have executed ‘Play and Learn’ project activities and read to one thousand, six hundred and fifty-five (1, 655) children and received six thousand and twenty-two (6, 022) books from six (6) organizations and six (6) individuals.
KIR Foundation has supported and facilitated at two (2) Universities, fifty – six (56) Schools, five (5) Orphanages, four (4) Homes for Street Children, five (5) Remand Homes and Juvenile Correctional Centres, three (3) Books Clubs and five (5) Prisons. We have also empowered nineteen (19) Women and donated eight (8) Computers, twenty-three (23) Braille Slates/ Stylus and numerous Computer Accessories and Educational Supplies to our beneficiaries. KIR Foundation has established two (2) Book clubs and published a leadership manual titled ‘The Young Leader’s Guide’.
Our services at KIR Foundation Inclusive Resource and Rehabilitation Community Centre include: Inclusive Resource Room and Library, Creative Abilities Unit for Persons with Disabilities, Training (ICT, Sign language, Entrepreneurship / Financial Literacy, Vocational Skills); Support for Autism, Mentoring and Counselling. Also, KIR Foundation is committed to implementing the United Nations Global Goals. We celebrate significant international dates connected to our Education, Advocacy, Capacity and Sustainable Development Programs because we are an organization with a global focus.

To support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the following areas: quality education, gender equality, promoting good jobs and economic growth, reducing inequalities, peace and justice, and fostering partnerships for the goals.
Keeping It Real (KIR) Foundation is a member of the technical committee of the Rivers State SDGs Office. Through our involvement in the committee we are helping to shape the policies, identifying gaps and partnerships at the local and national level, and mobilizing and aligning resources for the implementation of the SDGs.
