Global Development Incubator (GDI) pushes beyond traditional consulting and bureaucratic incubation. We take a hands-on approach and partner with innovators to address urgent global problems.
Break Silos -- We listen closely, interrogate the process, and bridge sectors to arrive at the best solutions to specific problems.
Hold Ourselves Accountable -- We work closely with our partners every step of the way and measure our success by the real-world impact we create, not simply the advice we deliver.
Make the Connections -- We catalyze potential partnerships and connect opportunities for funders, individuals, and organizations to work together towards common goals.
Think Long Term -- We engage and empower organizations and initiatives to stand on their own as influencers in their fields.
Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data
- SDG Compacts 2020 (and 2022, 2024, until 2030): A biennial, multi-stakeholder certification process to assess implementation of delivery mechanisms and rate progress towards the fulfillment of the SDGs, identify gaps, and align action and impact. Local stakeholders from participating cities and local governments, civil society, and the private sector stakeholders that agree to join forces will sign “mutual accountability agreements,” based on their local political and cultural context, where they commit to adapt, adopt, develop implementation system, and achieve locally-prioritized, time-bound and measurable goals and targets in support of the SDGs. Sub-national units such as cities or states would be able to i) participate in training modules to identify challenges and strengthen their capacity to deliver on targets, ii) share their progress or gaps; and iii) ask for support towards accelerating successful programs and investment towards priority sectors. There would also be clear links to national actions plans and could result in a powerful opportunity to link federal funding/block grants to subnational plans.
- Sustainable Development Olympics (SD-Olympics): To catalyze engagement in the SDG Compacts at the sub-national level, the SD-Olympics would be launched as a local-global mobilization and engagement campaign. The SD-Olympics is envisioned as a global competition between cities and local governments working towards the achievement of the Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 31 December 2030. The SD-Olympics is proposed as a fun, competitive, and rigorous political process to mobilize a broad range of stakeholder to take action so that we can co-create a global peaceful sustainable community. The timing of the SD-Olympics announcements would coincide with the alternating Summer and Winter Official Olympic Games.
