Based in Doha, Qatar, Education Above All Foundation was founded by official decision on 17 October 2012. Our aim is to build a global movement that contributes to human, social and economic development through quality education and other welfare programmes and initiatives. With a particular focus on areas affected by poverty, conflict, and disaster, we will champion the needs of children and women and empower them to be active members of their communities. By meeting the demand for education, we will equip them to support sustainable development and to nurture environments of peace, security, justice, and prosperity.
Education Above All Foundation through its advocacy program Protect Education during Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC) advocates in defense of education when it is most at risk and also most vital. PEIC also promotes the 2030 Agenda by safeguarding inclusive and quality education for all that is the foundation to improving people's lives and sustainable development.
PEIC undertakes multi-lateral diplomacy and advocacy initiatives that safeguard the right to education. Our work with UN human rights, judicial mechanisms, and strategic litigation will hold accountable those who perpetrate attacks on education. PEIC is committed to research and thought-leadership that brings global attention to the harm caused to education by war, conflict, and insecurity.
Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data
Education Above All Foundation through its advocacy program Protect Education during Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC) is committed to the right to education and realizing the vision of SDG 4 and the 2030 Agenda. EAA is committed to the vision of increasing the use and impact of education-related data in the humanitarian situations and in the humanitarian sector.
To secure that vision, EAA is committed to developing humanitarian technology and projects for the collection, sharing, use, and impact of education-related data. These innovations will ensure rapid, responsible and informed decision-making to ensure the protection and provision of quality education for the world’s most marginalized people, thereby securing SDG 4 and the vision of the 2030 Agenda.
EAA contributes to, inter alia, four education data related work streams:
- Data services, with a focus on processing, standardizing, storing and visualizing of education-related data;
- Data policy;
- Data literacy; and,
- Network engagement, including thought leadership, hosting workshops and events.
EAA is committed to working in partnerships with others who share its vision to promote the use and insights from this data with a wider set of humanitarian partners.
Education Above All's vision for data development is to work with our partners to create a future where everyone involved in a humanitarian situation has access to the education-related data they need, when and how they need it, to make responsible and informed decisions.
