PRESS RELEASE

Launch of the Festival de Datos 2023
Date: Monday 21-11-22

The Government of Uruguay is pleased to invite you to the launch event for the Festival de Datos 2023.

The event today will be attended by Uruguay's Minister of Tourism, Tabaré Viera, the Mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, the Executive Director of Agesic, Hebert Paguas, the Director of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in Uruguay, Diego Aboal, and the Director of External Relations of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD), Jennifer Oldfield—among others.

The Festival de Datos will take place in Punta del Este, from November 7-9, 2023, bringing together more than 400 delegates from governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, academia and civil society of various nationalities.

The event will be organized by the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data and sponsored by the Government of Uruguay, represented by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and the Agency for Electronic Government and the Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC).

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires rapid technological innovations and timely data collection, access, and use. However, the data revolution also raises questions around power, privacy and participation. Common spirit, dialogue, and advocacy are needed to drive progress on global goals. That is exactly what the 2023 Data Festival is all about.

The event will also aim to provide spaces for collaboration and cooperation, where many aspects of data in our societies will be showcased so that together we can advocate for well-funded, inclusive, coherent, and impactful information systems that improve people's lives.

Given the importance and magnitude of the event we hope to count on your presence.
