The vision of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) is to be the most inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for all stakeholders to work together in a coordinated way to ensure food security and nutrition for all.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how important it is to have timely and reliable data, and to collaborate on collecting, utilizing, and sharing that data to inform aligned responses. This side event, organized as part of the CFS High-Level Special Event on Strengthening Global Governance of Food Security and Nutrition (13-15 October 2020), unpacked the challenges around data gaps in agriculture and outline concrete steps being taken at national and global levels to address them. It highlighted the important policy actions needed to protect our investments in food security and nutrition, and identify actions to help countries in crisis build resilience with tools that enable informed and timely decision-making.
