About the initiative
AI has become part of everyday life globally. But the technology is evolving so fast that governments are struggling to unlock its benefits for citizens through public services. Reliable AI in public services needs data that can be trusted, infrastructure that keeps it usable and shareable, and institutions with the skills and mandate to run both.
As part of our focus on AI in Development, the Global Partnership is partnering with the Open Data Institute on a joint program, Data Foundations for AI, to help governments build and deploy trustworthy and effective AI to improve public services and address critical development challenges, whether that means people using AI directly to navigate a service, or a government using AI to inform decisions across the services it delivers.
Working together, this partnership can deliver something neither organization can do alone; technical depth robust enough to solve the data problem for AI in public services, joined to the political relationships and brokering skills needed to get that solution adopted inside government.
