Interoperability is the ability to access data from multiple sources while integrating that data for mapping, visualization and other forms of analytical representation. This process enables administrative data owners and national statistical offices (NSOs) to find, explore and understand the contents of data sets. Interoperability is the ability to bring together data from different sources in the bid to create more holistic, contextual information.

In this expert clinic, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data brought together NSOs to discuss how governments can use interoperability and innovative software to enhance the knowledge of data. The state participants were the Instituto Nacional de Estadística de la República Oriental del Uruguay, the United Kingdom Office for National Statistics, Le Haut Commissariat au Plan est l'institution Morocco, the Malaysia Department of Statistics and the Ecuadorian National Statistics Office.
