As climate and health crises escalate across Africa, the ability to tell clear, compelling stories with data is essential. From May 27 to 29, 2025, the Ghana Statistical Service and the Global Partnership will host a regional workshop in Accra focused on data narratives for climate and health in Africa. The workshop is part of the Africa Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator Network (CAN), an initiative dedicated to strengthening data use for public good.
Why this workshop matters
Storytelling is a powerful tool for turning complex data into action. This in-person workshop will equip participants with practical skills in data visualization, short-form storytelling, and user-centered design. It will also serve as a knowledge exchange platform, bringing together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and fellows to explore climate-health challenges and share impactful data solutions.
Through interactive sessions led by experts from OpenUp, the workshop will build capacity to:
- Visualize data effectively
- Collaborate across disciplines and institutions
- Communicate urgent insights with clarity and speed
