Humanitarian mapping in reaction to disasters is the classic application of humanitarian mapping and demonstrating how it works can be an instructive experience for attendees in the sense that they will visualize all the parties involved, the needs faced and the resources to invest.

The session consists of a brief theoretical introduction to disaster mapping and then moves on to a type of role-playing game in which, under the scenario of a humanitarian emergency, attendees must assume the roles of the various entities involved in post-humanitarian support. disaster.

Under the leadership of HOT, 'representatives' of the local government, of the affected communities, of hospitals, schools, etc., of aid NGOs: doctors without borders, red cross, etc., are assigned a role in the work of helps and a first coordination session is developed where the needs of the community and those involved must be made clear, translated into mapping needs.

After this, it will be evaluated whether the mapping actually helps or not and what adjustments to the coordination between the various parties need to be made to make the process more effective.
