Through an update of the Third Open Government Partnership National Action Plan for the United States, released on September 20, 2016, the United States committed to develop a U.S. government SDG Data Revolution Roadmap by June 2017. The roadmap seeks to chart the course to fill data gaps and build capacity for data-driven decision-making.

In a roundtable designed to jump-start the roadmap by developing a framework for work to be completed in the first year, participants addressed three themes: (1) strengthening the U.S. SDG National Reporting Platform, (2) data for action in the U.S., and (3) supporting global efforts to achieve the SDGs through data-driven initiatives.

A January 2017 report summarizing their insights and recommendations was produced with the support from the Center for Open Data Enterprise and the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data.

There are a number of other data innovation activities currently supporting sustainable development in the United States. See below for blogs, partner activities, initiatives, and resources related to sustainable development data in the United States.
