ID2020 is a global public-private partnership accelerating access to technology to ensure that everyone on the planet has access to a unique identity.

Priorities as a partner of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data

SDG 16.9 aims to "provide a legal identity for all, including birth registration." Currently, 1.5B people, including 230M children under 5, live without any form of officially recognized identity. Identity exclusion presents huge challenges for those individuals, but the missing aggregate data also presents enormous challenges for governments, NGOs, and businesses.

ID2020 commits to leveraging its extensive networks in the public and private sectors to ensure that world-class technologies are brought to bear on this problem and that both public and private sector actors are involved in delivery. We also commit to improving the knowledge base about this issue through data collection, analysis, and ongoing M&E.
