Agri-food data systems play a pivotal role in addressing global food security challenges and achieving sustainable development. They can enable efficient resource management, support sustainable agricultural practices, enhance food safety, and contribute to overall food security and resilience in the face of changing environmental and market conditions.
To support policymakers in making more effective investments to strengthen local and national agri-food data value chains, this session will identify the key building blocks robust agricultural data systems require, and discuss how improved data use can empower country level decision makers in the agri-food and nutrition sectors by highlighting good practices in different country and regional contexts. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach on how to build an effective agricultural and food data system, we will present a generalized framework to guide the session and will ask participants to share their best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.
