Expert Consultation on Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific

Hosted by: United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development represents an ambitious and transformative development agenda that will guide the work of governments and the development community for the next 15 years. The importance of formulating a regional response to implementation of this development agenda was recognized by over 400 participants, including representatives of 35 governments, the private sector, civil society and other stakeholders represented at the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) held in 2015 and the meeting endorsed the development of a regional roadmap to guide the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. It is expected that the roadmap which will be initiated and defined at the 2016 session of the APFSD will be eventually endorsed and supported by the governments of the region.
