#Data4Now: How can investing in more timely data save lives?
Too much of our data is out-of-date, and too many people are missing from the numbers. We need more timely data to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The Data for Now initiative is on a mission to change this, and Rwanda is one of the initiative's pioneering countries.
"Through this initiative we can unlock data, fight for inclusion and protect people’s data privacy. We must make sure data—or lack of data—does not create or reinforce disadvantages for people," said UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed.
About Data for the Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Achieving and monitoring the SDGs requires the partnership of governments, the private sector, civil society, and citizens alike. It will require unprecedented amounts of data to ensure we leave a better planet for future generations.
